The 21-year-old competed against talented young hairdressers from around the world over four days of arduous styling challenges in London late last week.

Two points separated the third-generation hairdresser from first place, with France finishing first and Korea second.

It is a fairytale finish for the dedicated stylist who missed out on selection at State and national levels before being picked in the last year she could qualify under the age restriction.

Miss Scott underwent a gruelling training regime in preparation for the competition, balancing morning and evening sessions around a full-time work schedule at Salon de Coiffure, in Donnybrook.

Australia’s WorldSkills team the Skillaroos finished the competition in seventh place.

WorldSkills Australia spent two years searching for the best trainees, apprentices and vocational education students to send to London to compete in the prestigious biennial event.
