Dolphin festival success

This year's Dolphin City Festival has been hailed a success by Dolphin Discovery Centre general manager David Kerr.

Held at the weekend, the two-day event acknowledged Bunbury's close relationship with the bottlenose dolphins in Koombana Bay.

Mr Kerr said many families enjoyed the festival, particularly the entertainment provided by the South West Blues Club on Saturday night.

"The Saturday was a perfect day, the weather was very kind to us," he said.

"In the evening we had the Blues, Brews and Barbecue which was a great night - I was very pleased with how that went."

This year's Dolphin City Festival featured many family-friendly activities, including hourly Scitech exhibitions and cruises to view Koombana Bay's dolphins in their natural habitat.

Mr Kerr said the event helped the centre establish itself as a leading tourist attraction in the South West.

"Overall I was very happy with how it all went," he said.

"The whole idea is about establishing our footprint as the premier dolphin centre in the country."

The Dolphin Discovery Centre will hold a live music event on December 11, with Bunbury musician Jack Resta set to perform at the show.
