Harvey shire president Tania Jackson and Manjimup resident Ed Valom have been appointed to the South West Development Commission board.

The pair attended their first meeting on Friday and have replaced Wade De Campo and Greg Duff on the 10-member board.

Commission chairman Stuart Hicks said they both brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role.

"We are pleased to have them on board at what is an exciting time for the commission and the South West as we lay the foundations for the sustainable growth and development of the region over the next 35 years," he said.

"With the South West Regional Blueprint launched, we are now working to build a legacy for the region we can be proud of."
