Walk the CBD for their art
Visual artists and businesses have joined together to provide a CBD-wide exhibition which takes people on a treasure hunt for art around the city.
Walk Your Art Out, run by the Bunbury Arts Project, has linked nine local artists with nine different cafes andretailers. Artists Arron Craig, Charlotte Otranto, Casey Thornton, Rachel Barrett, Indigo Kozisek, Lewis Thompson, Mark Youssef, Deanna Mosca andJ onika Miller have each created an artwork for the event.
Reproduced collectable prints of the works are then picked up from Sabotage,The Darkroom, Bianco Gourmet Pizza Cafe, EcoChix, Happy Herbs Shop, Dranged SHOP, Janny’s Cafe, Cafe 140 and UnsunkFunk.
A map of where to find the prints, which are a variety of mixed media, is provided on the back of each of the prints.
Organiser Deanna Mosca said the initiative aimed to support small businesses and promote young artists.
‘‘We’ve given local young and emerging artists the opportunity to showcase their artworks among some of the busiest places in Bunbury,’’ she said.
‘‘I got the idea from Windows on William, a similar project in Perth and we put the call out in late February through the Bunbury Arts Project for artists and businesses get involved.
‘‘As a result businesses sponsored the artists to create each of their work and in turn, people will now visit their stores topickupthe prints.’
The event is running in conjunction with National Youth Weekand finishes on Sunday.
