Latest figures from the Australian Taxation Office shows residents in the Greater Bunbury region are missing out on nearly $50 million in lost superannuation.

This comes after the ATO made changes to its SuperSeeker website, in a bid to encourage and make it easier for people to claim lost superannuation.

According to the ATO, Bunbury residents have lost more than 4700 superannuation accounts with an average value of $6,317. In Eaton, there are 1059 lost accounts with a total value of more than $6 million.

In Australind, there are 1855 accounts with a value of more than $13 million.
