Jeremy Allen White joins Star Wars movie Mandalorian & Grogu

Jeremy Allen White is officially joining the Star Wars universe.

The Bear star and multiple award-winner has been added to the cast of the upcoming Mandalorian & Grogu movie as the son of Jabba the Hutt, Rotta the Hutt.

According to Deadline, White’s role is not a cameo but a sizeable character.

But there is a catch. If you were hoping for a glimpse of White’s famously flexed muscles, you’ll have to keep staring at his Calvin Klein ad campaigns. White’s role will be a voice performance. There will not be a face-to-face showdown between him and Pedro Pascal. No hunk-off.

Rotta the Hutt originated in the 2008 animated movie The Clone Wars, appearing as ball-like creature with bulbus eyes and prominent skin folds.

Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first big screen Star Wars adventure since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. The franchise has struggled to relaunch its movies side but has released plenty of streaming series, including Skeleton Crew last week.

Mandalorian & Grogu is a spin-off/sequel from The Mandalorian, the first Star Wars series launched on Disney+. Jon Favreau is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dave Filoni. The two are the shepherds of The Mandalorian.

Sigourney Weaver is also in the cast.

White spent 10 years on the American version of Shameless, but he is best known for his starring role on The Bear as Carmy, an emotionally tortured high-end chef who inherits his family’s Chicago restaurant after the sudden death of his father.

The Bear thrust White onto the A-list and since the show’s first season in 2022, he has made the films Fingernails and The Iron Claw.

He is currently filming Deliver Me From Nowhere, a biopic of Bruce Springsteen. White is playing The Boss.
