The crew behind popular Mount Hawthorn pizza parlour Il Falco are opening a sibling Italian restaurant in Bassendean.

Called Voi Voi, Italian for “you you”, the new venue in the former TAB building on Parker Street opposite the Bassendean Hotel, will sling its first pizzas, antipasti and spritzes by the weekend.

Group executive chef Marcello Segalina said Voi Voi will share the same “unassuming and uncomplicated” approach as its little sister, which launched in a converted garage in August 2023.

“In a similar manner to how we approached Il Falco on the Scarborough Beach Road strip, Voi Voi is strategically located in a particular pocket of Bassendean that is screaming out for more love,” Segalina said.

“We are in good company with the awesome job they’ve done on the hotel, and hope we can add a further pop of fun and character to this part of the neighbourhood.”

In addition to his trademark pizzas, Voi Voi will dish up antipasti, including wagyu besaola and tomato salad, and two pastas — a vodka rigatoni and local crab linguine.

The Bassendean newcomer will also have tiramisu and vanilla panna cotta for dessert, as well as kids’ pizzas and a macaroni with “Nonna’s sugo”.

There are wines by the glass and bottle, including some from new wave producers, plus tap beers, gin and tonics and cocktails, notably three spritzes for $18 each.

Voi Voi will allow BYO on Wednesday nights.

“The BYO inclusion is also a really important aspect of what we offer,” Segalina said. “It keeps affordability at the forefront, and we love the casual, social nature it adds to the venues.”

The chef said his team’s second coming aims to be a family-friendly neighbourhood venue.

“There is plenty of room for the kiddos and the crazy family catch ups,” he said.

“We make sure dogs feel the love with fresh aqua, shade and plenty of walk-by head ruffles in our alfresco area — because they are family too.”

Located at 2 Parker Street, Bassendean, Voi Voi will open Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm to 10pm, and on Sundays from noon to 9pm.
