Property agent Eric Hartanto has sold more than $1 billion worth of homes in his career, so he knew where to get bang for his buck when he recently bought his own family home. Hartanto, who was recognised as the top assisted salesman by value in the recent real estate awards, bought in Mt Pleasant, the suburb he calls “great value for money.” His $4.8 million purchase got him a six-bedroom, four-bathroom mansion with parking for eight cars and an indoor pool. It also has a study, gym with sauna, a theatre room, and is set on a 1190sqm block, overlooking Tuscan-style roofs to the nearby river. “I was impressed with the quality of the home itself, as well as life in Mt Pleasant,” he said. “It is close to my office, close to freeway access and you can see the river, which is quite healing.” Like many suburbs, the median house in Mt Pleasant has enjoyed an annual price hike of 30 per cent. But since 2015, prices are up only 65 per cent. In comparison, Applecross however is up 27 per cent over the year but by 76.5 per cent since 2015. The property was sold via property agents Matthew Podesta and Peter Zambotti.
