Nikki Glaser Fresh from her triumphant turn hosting this year’s Golden Globes, the hilarious Nikki Glaser has announced an Australian stand-up tour, which will hit Perth on July 25. Glaser’s Alive And Unwell show promises her signature “shockingly honest, no-holds-barred style” honed over two decades of comedy. Glaser, also a podcaster and former host and executive producer of the US version of FBoy Island, had a big 2024, starting with a standout performance at Netflix’s The Greatest Roast Of All Time: Tom Brady, and an Emmy-nominated HBO comedy special, Someday You’ll Die. Her show at HPC, formerly HBF Stadium, is the final on her tour. Tickets are on sale now. Margaritaville Whether you like them salty, spicy or classic, margarita fans can quench their thirst at Leederville Precinct’s fifth Margaritaville celebration. On January 25 and 26, the Garden, Servo and Leederville Hotel will have a special focus on the tequila-based cocktail, including Eterno Grande at Servo (a set menu including pork belly tacos and mango empanadas with two hours of bottomless drinks) and Oyster Sin Fondo at Servo’s Yard Bar (two hours of unlimited oysters, Tommy’s margaritas and other cocktails). Tomorrow There Will Be Sun This anthology of 20 short stories from The Hope Prize ranges from a tale of two lovers in Nigeria navigating uncertain futures to a homeless man in Melbourne holding on to his dignity, and a mother in Ireland who is unknowingly whisper-close to her long-lost son. The stories were selected from 1400 submissions from around the world by a judging panel that included Dame Quentin Bryce, author Dr Tony Birch and former PM Julia Gillard. It features the winning story, by Edinburgh-based Australian writer John Merkel, about the lifelong friendship between his mother and a man she met at a support group while recovering from prolonged mental illness. The book, published by Simon & Schuster, retails for $24.95, and all royalties go to support Beyond Blue. LASSU It’s fitting that the world premiere of this “saucy, adult circus” is in producer Merrik Ashton’s adopted home State of WA, where the seventh-generation performer spent 12 years touring with his family’s famous circus. LASSU, billed as “a cosmic cabaret saloon perched on the edge of the galaxy, where space cowboys, alien drifters and the legendary Rodeo Sisters dazzle,” is Ashton’s debut as a producer but he has been performing in the big top since childhood. LASSU’s creative director is Helpmann Award-winning choreographer Mitchell Woodcock, who also grew up in Perth. Tickets are on sale now for the show, which takes place in a special spiegeltent at Taylor Reserve in South Perth until February 16.
