The festive spirit is in the air as Albany welcomes the largest version of its Christmas Lights Trail yet, with 11 bright installations dotted around the city.

The city of Albany’s trail features large-scale decorations in locations such as Alison Hartman Gardens, Albany Town Square, and Anzac Peace Park, with this year marking the first time the lights have expanded out of the city CBD into Middleton Beach and Emu Point.

Now in its fourth year, the 2024 Christmas Lights Trail includes interactive elements such as the koala selfie and the selfie elf.

City of Albany community relations manager Elise van Gorp said the expanded trail included classic Christmas fare and Australian wildlife to add vibrancy to Albany’s festive season.

“The trail not only lights up the heart of the city but also extends to Binalup/Middleton Beach and Emu Point, offering the community and visitors an even broader festive experience,” she said.

“We’re excited to showcase these new locations for everyone to explore and enjoy.

“It’s a wonderful way to bring people together and celebrate the spirit of the holidays in Albany.”

An interactive map on the city of Albany website shows where each light will be.

The trail will be displayed until January 5.

The lighting of the trail on November 22 marked the start of the city’s festive program, which includes the annual pageant, markets, and, for the first time, an ice rink.
