Works on $2m 100-bay carpark at Albany Health Campus set to start in February, tendered to Devlyn Construction

Construction on the new 100-bay carpark at Albany Health Campus is set to begin “imminently” to the relief of visitors who find themselves needing to park on the verge more often than not. Work on the $2m project is expected to start in February, with Devlyn Construction announced as the managing contractor. As well as the additional bays — which will be constructed on a site nearby and not affect the usability of the existing carpark — the upgrades include new wayfinding, pathways, crosswalks, CCTV cameras, and security lighting. Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said the extra bays will “make it easier” for patients and staff to access the hospital and reduce stress. Funded in the 2023-24 State budget, the upgrades mark the fulfilment of Albany MLA Rebecca Stephens’s 2021 election promise. “The community told me we needed more car bays at Albany Health Campus, and we have listened and are delivering this at the hospital,” she said. “This is all part of our commitment to supporting patients, visitors and staff with not only world-class healthcare facilities, but also the supporting infrastructure they need.” Liberal candidate Thomas Brough, who works at AHC as an emergency room doctor, said the carpark was often full by 9am each morning and “completely overflowing” by shift change time.
