South West detectives have arrested a 17-year-old juvenile over the burglary on Friday of nine firearms and 600 rounds of ammunition from an Usher home.

Detective Darren Clifton told the Bunbury Herald today that an arrest had been made in relation to the theft and that a number of the weapons had been recovered.

No charges had been laid at the time of going to press and police were continuing their investigation.

Last week, acting Det. Sen-Sgt Brett Panten said a cache of rifles and shotguns, including a double-barrel shotgun, and 600 rounds of ammunition were stolen from the home while the occupant was at work.

Two safes were stolen from the house, one containing ammunition and the other with the homeowner’s personal items and cash.

``The offenders gained entry via a sliding glass door and once inside the premises they located two firearms safes, they breached one firearm safe containing firearms and the other firearms safe containing ammunition, they managed to rip it from its fixtures and remove it from their premises,’’ Det. Sen-Sgt Brett Panten said.
