Brett Anthony Cohen: Australind man accused of uploading child abuse material faces more charges

A 58-year-old Australind man accused of uploading footage to social media of toddlers and young children being molested has had more charges laid against him. Brett Anthony Cohen appeared in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court on Thursday where six new charges were laid against him. Mr Cohen was already facing three allegations of possessing child abuse material obtained or accessed through a carriage system and using a carriage service to access and transmit child abuse material. However, the additional charges were laid after further examinations of the electronic devices that were seized from Mr Cohen’s Australind home during a search in September 2021. The search took place after police received a tip from the US National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. During the police raid, Australian Federal Police and WA Police detectives examined Mr Cohen’s electronic devices and allegedly found child abuse material and messages involving trading and exchange of the content. It was further alleged police found photos and videos of toddlers and young children being abused on Mr Cohen’s computer. The matters were adjourned to a further committal mention date in June.
