BSBL 2023: Tiahna Sears drops a staggering 62 points for Tornadoes Black against youthful Eaton Eagles

Tiahna Sears produced one of the best individual efforts seen in a Bunbury Senior Basketball League women’s game on Friday night at the South West Sports Centre. Sears dropped 62 points - just one shy of the opposition’s total - in Tornadoes Black’s 113-63 win over a youthful Eaton Eagles team, who found the going tough against their battle-hardened opponent. Black took a 29-8 lead heading into the second quarter, with Sears cashing in 20 of those points. The majority of her offensive brilliance was courtesy of penetration to the bucket, along with a willingness to get the best possible shot away for her team. While on the odd occasion, loose checking from the Eagles afforded Sears a few open looks from beyond the arc. Despite the result well and truly confirmed, Sears’ opportunity to finish with 62 points ultimately was due to Holly and Ebony Bilcich each sitting on four fouls, which meant she was required out on court to avoid Black getting into foul trouble. In the men’s competition, Tornadoes Red upset second-placed Bulls Gold 93-88, while Conquerors also caused a boilover, comprehensively defeating Tornadoes Black 105-75.
