Friday night’s Bunbury Senior Basketball League women’s A-grade action saw Bulls Gold launch a huge late comeback to beat Tornadoes Black by seven points in one of the best games of the season.

Trailing by 13 points in the opening stages of the final term, Bulls turned up their intensity at both ends of the court, scoring 26 of the game’s final 32 points to steal a 69-62 victory.

Bulls’ fourth-quarter resurgence was started by veteran sharpshooter Courtney Bayliss (23 points), who quickly brought her side back into the contest by drilling three consecutive three-pointers.

As Black’s offence stalled down the stretch, Alexis Donovan also came up huge for the winners, scoring 10 of her 24 points in the final frame to help the Bulls over the line.

Bulls were able to survive a strong performance from Black’s Javene Fitch, who dominated the interior while scoring a game-high 26 points.

The win was not quite enough to move Bulls to the top of the ladder ahead of Aces Sky but they remain in second ahead of third-placed Tornadoes Red, with each side boasting a 3-1 win-loss record.

Fourth-placed Black are already two games behind the leading pack in the last finals spot, with their only win of the season coming over Conquerors in round three.

In the other fixture, Tornadoes Red recorded a comfortable 25-point win over Conquerors.

A sizeable margin looked to be in the offing when Red took a 22-point lead into half-time but Conquerors found the competitiveness they have shown in recent weeks in the second half, keeping the scoreline to a respectable 85-60.

Grace Adams continued her strong form for the winners with 28 points and Jean Coyle — who had scored a combined 17 points in her first three games — chipped in with 26.

Shontai Farrant (20 points), Mellika Winmar-Collard (16) and Giana Stiles (12) combined to carry much of the offensive load for Conquerors.
