Reigning Bunbury Senior Basketball League women’s A-grade champions Tornadoes Black continued their strong form with a 15-point win over Bulls Gold at South West Sports Centre on Friday night.

After starting their season with three losses in their first four games, Black won their fourth straight contest in a 66-51 result, moving them ahead of Gold into second spot on the ladder on percentage.

Stars Tiahna Sears and Zaya Black were absent for the winners but Bree Chalk stepped up to lead the way with 27 points as centre Javene Fitch (21 points) continued her strong season.

But it was the strength of Black’s defence which saw them come away with the win, keeping Gold to just 10 points in the first term to open up a 14-point advantage which their opponents could not trim to single digits for the rest of the game.

Gold were led in scoring by Alexis Donovan with 12 points.

Despite coming into the contest with the bare minimum of five players available, Red leapt back to the top of the ladder on the back of a 107-77 victory.

Isabella Andrew was massive for the winners with 44 points, and the competition’s leading scorer Grace Adams chimed in with 31 of her own.

Mellika Winmar-Collard (32 points) and Shontai Farrant (25) continued strong campaigns in defeat for Conquerors, who are still without a win for the season.
