Bunbury came out in force on Remembrance Day to remember those who served and died for Australia in war.

There were plenty of red poppies in the crowd that gathered at the Bunbury War Memorial at Victoria Street with many there to pay their respects.

Bunbury Mayor Jaysen Miguel, Bunbury MLA Don Punch, South West MLC Steve Thomas, South West District Police Superintendent Geoff Stewart and UN Representatives Joseph Caruso and Carolyn Caruso were at the event.

They were among the many to lay wreaths at the foot of the memorial.

The ceremony featured a parade march from returned servicemen and the 515 Army Cadet Unit.

The event also paid a touching tribute to Vietnam War veteran and former Returned and Services League president Trevor Kenny who died a few weeks prior.

Returned and Services League president John Gelmi paid tribute to Mr Kenny during his speech.

“I’d like to mention this morning that we’re a parade member down, the passing of Trevor James Kenny, past RSL president, life-member, warden, committee member, hospital and nursing home visitor,” he said.

“He’ll be sadly missed by those places as Trevor did quite frequently visit the nursing homes.

“He paraded most funerals for our veterans and service members whether they were a member of the RSL or just returned from service.”
