A rideshare service will allow drivers and passengers in the South West’s two biggest centres to negotiate how much their fare costs.

DiDi has chosen Bunbury and Busselton as two of the first 22 locations across the country, which will be able to access DiDi Negotiate as part of the service’s Australian expansion.

Those seeking to use the trip service will be able to enter their destination and then nominate a price, which can either be accepted or countered by the driver.

Passengers will pay a 10 per cent service fee for the offer.

Company spokesperson Dan Jordan said the service will allow drivers and passengers to accept a price they both agree with.

“(It) offers drivers the flexibility to accept what they want to earn and riders the flexibility to accept a fare that’s within their budget,” he said.

Australia is the 12th country to be offered the service by the company, which has previously been rolled out in countries including Mexico, Argentina, and Egypt.

A number of regional cities across the country have been chosen as the first for the Australian expansion, including Newcastle, Cairns, and Geelong.
