Two Rocks bushfire: Residents in Two Rocks, Seatrees Estate and parts of Yanchep told to stay alert
An out-of-control bushfire which was threatening homes in Two Rocks has been downgraded to a Watch and Act.
People in Two Rocks, as well as those in Yanchep and Wilbinga are being advised to stay alert and continue to monitor conditions in the area.
The blaze was first reported just before 11.40am on Sunday before it escalated to a bushfire emergency just after 1pm.
The fire is not contained or controlled and is moving in a northerly direction as of 3.02pm.
A Watch and Act is in place for people bounded by Wilbinga Road, Sovereign Drive, Lisford Avenue, Two Rocks Road and extending to the intersection of Breakwater Drive and Indian Ocean Drive, including Indian Ocean Drive itself.
It also includes the Two Rocks townsite and Seatrees Estate in parts of Yanchep, Wilbinga, Two Rocks in the Shire of Gingin and the City of Wanneroo.
Aerial support is underway to try and control the blaze, while fire fighters on the ground are working to strengthen containment lines.
“You may need to act quickly so ensure you are prepared if the situation gets worse,“ the alert said.
“If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear. If you find it hard to move quickly, leaving now is your safest option.
“Keep your doors and windows closed to keep out smoke. Continue to patrol your property and be ready to put out spot fires.”
Road closures include Breakwater Drive between Indian Ocean Road and Damepattie Drive.
Yanchep is expected to reach a top of 38C on Sunday.
