The girlfriend of one of the accused killers of Perth brothers Callum and Jake Robinson has flipped to become the star witness in the case.

Ari Gisel Garcia Cota was arrested with boyfriend Jesus Gerardo Garcia Cota and his brother Cristian Alejandro Garcia after the bodies of the Perth brothers and their American friend Jack Rhoad were found down a well in the Baja California region near Ensenada on Sunday.

It is alleged Callum, 33, Jake, 30, and Mr Rhoad, 30, were murdered by Jesus in a bungled robbery while they were camping in the Punta San Hose region in Santo Tomas.

Each had a gunshot to the head and were found stuffed down a 15m well nearby, along with the remains of a fourth man who had been missing for several weeks.

In a shock twist, it was revealed in a Mexican court overnight that the girlfriend was now the key witness in the case.

“She has flipped on the ringleader and the evidence she’s provided to the prosecution will lead this case going forward,” Nine News reported on Thursday.

“What’s alleged is that Jesus Gerardo was driving her car that night when he went out to that remote campsite.”

Prosecutors claim that Jesus had driven his girlfriend’s car to the area where the Robinsons and Mr Rhoad were camping sometime between the afternoon of Saturday, April 27, and Sunday morning, ambushing the trio.

Drag marks, bullets and teeth have been found at their campsite, local media reported.

Prosecutors told the court that Jesus returned to the home and told his girlfriend: “I f**ked up three gringos.”

She asked: “What do you mean by that?”.

Jesus declared: “I killed them.”

The court was told that Jesus then showed her the new tyres he had put on her car.

Mexican authorities claim that the brothers and their friend had been murdered by thieves trying to steal their ute for its tyres.

A burnt-out ute, which belonged to the missing trio, was later located in the Santo Tomas area — reportedly with a firearm inside it.

It is claimed Ari then left her home and fled to her mother’s house, where she was later arrested by authorities after she turned on one of the missing men’s mobile phones after it pinged on a nearby cell tower.

Prosecutors told the court that she then revealed what she knew about the disappearance of the men.

So far only Jesus has been charged in connection with their deaths, and only with forced kidnapping.

Ari and Cristian have been charged with drug possession.

In the Ensenada court overnight, Jesus charge was not upgraded to murder, as was expected, and he did not enter a plea.

He will remain in custody until November, when he is next due to appear in court.

The Attorney-General said investigators were confident more than three people were involved in the attack and had not ruled out the possibility of more people being charged.

The court hearing in Mexico came a day after Callum and Jake’s parents Martin and Debra Robinson gave an emotional tribute to their sons.

Speaking at the beach Callum would often surf at in San Diego, California, parents Martin and Debra Robinson shared their heartbreak over the devastating loss of their sons.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Callum and Jake have been murdered. Our hearts are broken and the world has become a darker place for us,” Mrs Robinson said.

“Now it’s time to bring ... them home to family and friends — and the ocean waves in Australia.

“Please live bigger, shine brighter and love harder in their memory.”

The bodies of the brothers were handed over to their parents on Wednesday.

It is understood they will be taken over the border to San Diego before they are transported back to Australia.
