An elderly man has died after being hit by a car in a western suburbs carpark.

Police said they were called to the Claremont carpark on Stirling Highway about 3.30pm on Monday after reports a car had hit a man in his 70s.

7NEWS reported the man “fell heavily” in the Ultra Tune carpark, before cracking his head.

He was rushed to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital but could not be saved.

Major crash investigation officers are attending the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
