Dramatic footage shows arrest after Bol Deng shot dead in street
Video footage has captured the dramatic moment a man was arrested months after a 20-year-old man was shot dead on a Sydney street.
Officers were called to Stella St in Fairfield Heights following reports of a shooting about 8.30am on February 27.
Bol Deng, 20, was found unresponsive at the scene by officers and could not be revived.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident was launched.
More than nine months after Mr Deng’s death, detectives undertook two search warrants in Auburn about 6.40am on Thursday.
A 25-year-old man was arrested during one of the search warrants.
Video footage captured the moment a group of police officers stormed Kerim Kurtoglu’s home.
“Police, search warrant, open the door!” one yelled after knocking.
The footage shows the door opening from the inside before Mr Kurtoglu is later ushered out of the home in handcuffs.
Mr Kurtoglu was charged with accessory before the fact to murder, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, participate in a criminal groupcontribute criminal activity, and fail to comply digital evidence access order direction.
The 25-year-old was refused bail and fronted the Bankstown Local Court on Friday.
Police were expected to allege that Mr Kurtoglu was hired to arrange the cars and loaded gun that killed Mr Deng.
Mr Kurtoglu is set to spend Christmas behind bars after he made no application for bail.
He is set to appear at Parramatta Local Court on February 20 next year.
He has also been charged with false representation resulting in police investigation, which is listed for mention in the Burwood Local Court on January 22 next year.
Investigations are ongoing.
