Sunset Festival a smash hit at Australind foreshore as families celebrate end of school year
The community came together on the shores of the Leschenault estuary at the weekend to celebrate the end of the year at the Shire of Harvey’s Sunset Festival.
The Sunset Festival had Ridley Park foreshore packed with people on Saturday as children and their families celebrated the end of the school year.
Shire president Michelle Campbell said the event was a fabulous celebration of the community’s youth.
She said Sunset Festival welcomed the whole community and was a rebranding of the Shire’s previous Youthchella event aimed at people aged 10 to 18.
“It’s a great evening, it’s nice and cool, everyone is coming in and there’s lots of activities and lots of food,” she said.
Cr Campbell said the event was the key project of the Shire’s youth trainee Chanieve Sawtell as she finished her time with the local government.
“This is the finale for Chanieve and she’s done such a great job,” Cr Campbell said.
The kids, teens and in-betweens partied on from 5-9pm, with a host of inflatable rides for them to play on and live music.
As the sun was setting the attendees were even graced with of a flash mob hitting the dance floor.
