SWFL 2022: Harvey Bulls run riot during emphatic win over Carey Park
Harvey Bulls coach Mark Pink is not only a passionate football person, he is also a man who will never leave anything in the tank.
Much like his football team, Harvey showed on Saturday night against a fading Carey Park they could be a force to be reckoned with if they nab fifth spot.
Led by a red-hot forward line, the Bulls cruised 20.13 (133) to 4.5 (29) against the Panthers at Kelly Park, with co-captain Brad Holmes booting six goals.
While Holmes was the star of attraction of this offensive masterclass with his superior positioning at marking contests, he was not the only shining cog of this well-oiled machine.
Fleet-footed Michael Bennell left spectators and opponents alike catching their breath with deftly timed handballs and long raking kicks into the teeth of goal.
And of course Tyson Powell was no slouch either, booting five goals while operating as a supporting cast for number one ruckman Thomas Wood.
Unable to ever get comfortable in the contest, the Panthers were essentially out of business by quarter-time, when they trailed by 40 points.
Although youngster Jack Monkhouse battled hard against Wood in the ruck, and Bailey Taylor was diligent in defence, the Panthers simply did not have enough firepower to cover the Bulls’ offensive weapons.
As it stands, the Bulls are in fifth position on 32 points. When they run out to play Busselton on Saturday afternoon at Sir Stewart Bovell Park, they will be aware of what is required to qualify for finals football.
If Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault defeat the Eaton Boomers earlier in the day at Brunswick Oval, the Bulls will only need to win or draw against the Magpies to finish fifth.
Should the Bulls lose and either Donnybrook or the Boomers win, their finals chances could be in tatters.
