Emergency fleet boosted
The State Emergency Service’s Bunbury branch has received two new vehicles to replace its ageing Toyota Troopie and 21 seater bus.
Funded by the Emergency Service Levy, the vehicles will help Bunbury SES volunteers respond to any incident to which they are called.
The bus will be used to transport volunteer firefighters, as part of a fatigue management startegy.
SES district manager Nick Elrick said the vehicles were a Bunbury-based regional resource, providing mobility for volunteers so that smaller towns in the region could be helped in times of need.
As we head into spring, Mr Elrick saidit was important for residents to prepare their homes for the summer season.
‘‘Don’t get complacent, we are now coming in to the last lot of storms for the year — do your gutters and clean up any fallen branches or trees,’’ he said.
