Between them there has been 125 years of firefighting service and for five Bunbury firefighters that dedication has been recognised with long service medals.

Earlier this month, the men were among 119 career firefighters from around the State rewarded for their years of dedicated service.

The firefighters received one or both of the Emergency Services Diligent Service Medal and the National Medal at Government House.

Station officer Paul Smoker received his 25-year National Medal and was also awarded a 25-year Emergency Services Diligent Service Medal.

Senior firefighter Travis Regan received his National Medal and his 15-year Emergency Services Diligent Service Medal.

“It’s a nice way to be recognised for serving the community,” he said.

Station officer Peter Evans (30 years) and senior firefighters Alan Tillett (30 years) and Kevin Heather (25 years) received Emergency Services Diligent Service medals.
