Two council meetings in Australind

Bunbury Herald

The Shire of Harvey has confirmed it will hold council meetings in Australind after a year of trialling the Leschenault Leisure Centre as a meeting venue.

Shire chief executive officer Michael Parker said council would meet twice a year in Australind as part of their ordinary meetings, which have been reduced from 22 to 16 meetings per year.

‘‘Staff believe that the trial undertaken has been worthwhile however in looking forward it is felt that particularly with the annual community meetings, the reduction in the overall council meetings and the logistical impact involved, that the number of meetings held away from the council chambers should be reduced,’’ he said.
