Wildlife Park still open for business

Bunbury Herald

The Bunbury Wildlife Park remains open for business during its renovations — and has welcomed new furry additions including baby woylies born there.

The park’s main building is being renovated and when finished will have an expanded cafe with a commercial kitchen, new toilets, offices and a brand new look.

Park manager Kristina Knight said it would be business as usual at the park while the work took place.

“While we have to vacate the main building, the park will still be open from 10am to 5pm, seven days a week with entry via a transportable building,” she said.

“Although the cafe will be closed during the renovation, ice cream and cold drinks will still be on sale.

“The transportable will also serve as a temporary kiosk with ice cold treats and snacks available and people can still take advantage of the free barbecues in the adjacent playground and within the park.”

The park has 60 varieties of birds and marsupials, with new additions including tamar wallabies, pademelons and baby sugar gliders, as well as hand-raised red tailed black cockatoos. There is also a new lake with a natural filtration system installed.

“It’s called a floating biosphere and will help to keep the water clean,” Ms Knight said.
