Nationals WA make $5000 election commitment to The Blokehood Project to support teenage boys in Geraldton

The Nationals WA have pledged $5000 to a program that mentors and fosters resilience, leadership and emotional intelligence in teenage boys in Geraldton. Run by the Transformative Growth Institute, The Blokehood Project supports young men aged 14-17 through leadership and personal development camps. The Nationals’ election commitment would help the program expand and allow more teenage boys to access it. “The Blokehood Project helps teenage boys understand themselves, build confidence, and develop a positive sense of masculinity in a supportive environment,” Nationals WA Geraldton candidate Kirrilee Warr said. “It gives them the tools they need to grow into strong, responsible and engaged members of our community.” The program, which includes mentorship, team-building exercises and personal development workshops, aims to give young men the skills to make good decisions, form healthy relationships, and develop a sense of purpose. Ms Warr said the program was particularly vital in regional areas like Geraldton, where young people often faced limited access to support and services. “We know when young men feel connected, supported, and given the right guidance, they are far less likely to struggle with disengagement, poor mental health, or risky behaviour,” Ms Warr said. “This program doesn’t just benefit the young men who take part. It benefits families, schools and the broader community by fostering young men who are resilient, emotionally intelligent, and ready to contribute to society in a positive way.”
