Burt Street to host Christmas Street Party to launch festive season in Kalgoorlie-Boulder

Boulder’s main street will be a hive of festive activity on Sunday as the annual Christmas Street Party marks the start of the busy season. The family friendly event will include the annual lighting of the Christmas tree, non-stop entertainment, craft activities, stalls and festive workshops. From 3pm to 8pm, Burt Street and Loopline Park will come to life with main stage performances by local musicians and dance troupes, while stall holders offer one-of-a-kind gifts. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and a special appearance from Santa himself will be one not to miss. The official lighting of the tree will take place at 7.30pm, followed by fireworks. Kalgoorlie-Boulder mayor Glenn Wilson said he would be joined by a local family who had benefited from the Goldfields Children Charity in switching on the lights. “What a fun way to launch Christmas here in the city,” he said. “It is a packed event — we get a lot of people into the surrounds, and as we know here in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, family events do get large crowds. “It’s great to recognise that Christmas is a time for our families, but also at the same time, we can have a little bit of fun and enjoy some Christmas cheer in getting started into Christmas season in Burt Street.”
