Manjimup’s speedway season starts on Saturday night
The 2025 Manjimup Speedway season will begin this Saturday night, with the Street Stock Stampede category on show.
The first race of 2025 will include the Street Stock Stampede, Modified Sedans, Super Mods, Productions and Juniors race categories, with 18 drivers nominated for the Street Stock Stampede.
The event will also mark the first event for the Manjimup Speedway since the track was redone and had its lights upgraded.
Manjimup Speedway president Glenn Edmonds said speedway as a sport was growing, with the lower South West no exception.
“Spectators like the spills and thrills and some good close racing,” he said.
“We’ve had some exciting and entertaining racing for the spectators.
“With the upgrade of the lights, we’ve upgraded the wiring, the speakers and the irrigation to put water on the grass in the grandstand and eventually to the pits.
“We also reshaped the track wall and replaced the catch fence to bring it up to the next level specification, so it’s a lot taller and looks magnificent.”
An official turning on ceremony for the new lights will take place at 7.15pm.
