Accolades belong to school: award winning teacher

Bunbury Herald

A Bunbury schoolteacher’s outstanding work contributing to student learning in engineering and related subjects has earned her a State award.

Head of Science at Newton Moore Senior High School Lorraine Ellis received the Engineers Australia WA Division Award for Excellence in Teaching 2011 on Friday night.

An excited Mrs Ellis said the accolade rewarded not just her, but the entire school.

‘‘I feel fantastic because it rewards all the engineering programs and related courses we have at Newton Moore,’’ Mrs Ellis said.

‘‘I’m just a front person, there are a lot of people behind delivering these programs.’’

The school will receive $5000 from Engineers Australia to spend on educational engineering equipment.
