All rise to farewell SW magistrate
After more than 33 years behind the bench, Bunbury Magistrate Kelvin Fisher was the subject of a court session on Friday.
About 40 people crammed into a court room to officially farewell the 64-year-old after he announced his retirement as one of Bunbury's prominent magistrates.
There was no debate among police prosecutors, defence lawyers, legal aids and security officers, who all turned out to farewell a "mate".
Mr Fisher - who followed in the legal footsteps of his father Charles, also a prominent Bunbury magistrate - said he was overcome by the number of familiar faces in the room.
Retired lawyer Clive Young, who worked with both father and son magistrates, spoke during Friday's special court session.
"As much as your father was loved and respected, so must you be, sir," he said.
