Alleged robbers lead police a dance
Australind police were led on a chase three times around a residential block after an alleged robbery and car theft at Eaton Tavern.
Sgt Chris Clelland from Australind Police said officers were called to the tavern after a patron was allegedly assaulted and robbed in the car park.
He said the bar manager disturbed the robbery and the 26-year-old alleged attacker fled on a bicycle.
The victim had his phone, wallet and car keys stolen.
Sgt Clelland said when police left to speak to the victim’s wife, the alleged robber returned to steal the car — leading to a pursuit through Eaton.
He said the driver abandoned the vehicle after a tyre deflated, and a give way sign was caught under the car.
The victim of the alleged robbery was treated in hospital for severe bruising, and cuts and bruises to his head.
The alleged driver and his passenger were arrested at an Eaton address early on Sunday morning.
They appeared in court yesterday but will appear again later this month.
