Annual rose exhibition promises heady mix
More than 2000 people are expected to delight in the scents and beauty of the roses on show this weekend at the South West Rose Group’s annual exhibition.
Group president Kevin Malloy said there could be up to 65 classes of rose on display and some creative interpretations in the floral art categories.
Exhibitors will arrange pedestal creations, make flowers represent their favourite football team, reflect flowers using mirrors, and create wine-themed arrangements in the floral art categories. Form, colour, shape and leaf freshness will all be among a long list of particulars judged in the competition, Mr Malloy said.
Visitors to the exhibition can enjoy the beauty and creativity on display as well as gather knowledge to improve their rose-growing abilities.
"That’s the whole idea of the club, to share the knowledge," Mr Malloy said.
"It’s more fun than anything else, it’s a chance for garden lovers to get together and learn."
The exhibition will be held at the Eaton Hall (on Pratt Road) on Saturday, between 1pm and 5pm, and on Sunday, between 9am and 4pm.
