Arson squad investigate Bunbury hotel fire

About 15 firefighters from Bunbury and Eaton battled to contain a fire at the Highway Hotel on Sunday morning.

Bunbury fire station officer Peter Hoad said firefighters were called to the hotel about 6.40am.

He said the fire originated in a second floor bedroom but was contained within an hour.

Mr Hoad said no one was injured in the fire but the cause of the fire was still under investigation.

However, the fire caused extensive damage to the roof of the hotel, which is currently under renovation.

The police arson squad is now investigating.
