Battling family receives Christmas boost
A Bunbury family got an early Christmas gift last week after a year of hurdles and challenges.
Two-year-old Harley Jarvis was diagnosed with Trisomy 9 mosaic — a rare chromosomal disorder — putting him in and out of hospital throughout the year.
The Jarvis family was identified through The Good Guys and Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation’s Local Giving Program and was granted their Christmas wish.
The Good Guys Bunbury store filled the Jarvis stocking with a stack of gifts, including a Polaroid camera, DVD player, DVDs and Go Pro camera.
Harley’s parents, Carla and Aaron Jarvis also have four daughters, all under the age of 10.
Mr Jarvis said he was overwhelmed by the store’s generosity and support.
“What a fantastic surprise it is for our family during the Christmas period, ” Mr Jarvis said.
Store manager Alan Roche said his team was proud to support the family and a worthy cause.
“The spirit of giving is what Christmas is all about and we’ve really enjoyed playing secret Santa and ensuring that Harley and his family have a few extra pressies under the tree, ” he said.
