BDCA products dominate grade season launch
It was an auspicious start for three former Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association juniors in the first round of WACA first grade fixtures at the weekend.
Former Western Warriors opener Luke Towers, Harvey Benger opener Dane Crognale and new Warrior Sam Whiteman all shone with the bat, while ex-South Bunbury youngster Jacob Whiteaker and strapping former Colts allrounder Anthony Radunovich were in the wickets.
Pride of place goes to Towers, delisted in 2011 after 10 First Class matches for 413 runs at 20.65 for the Warriors.
He hit back at his critics with a sound 127 for Melville against Gosnells while Crognale posted a solid 109 for Willetton against Wanneroo.
Also opening for his club, new Warriors’ signingWhiteman made 31 in Rockingham-Mandurah’s modest 181 against Fremantle.
All rounders Radunovich and Whiteaker did not bat on the first day but performed with the ball, Whiteaker taking 2/40 off 17 overs for Claremont Nedlands against Bayswater-Morley with his spinners, while seamer Radunovich claimed 3/46 off 15 overs for South Perth against University .
