BREC's community birthday bash
Greater Bunbury residents have been invited to help blow out the candles to celebrate Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre's 25th birthday.
A range of events and workshops will take place at the centre this week for the Birthday Festival, which is highlighted by a community concert with singer Samantha Jade and comedian Denise Scott on Friday night.
Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre general manager Joel McGuinness said there was a lot of excitement in the community for the festival.
"The focus for the week is about the community because BREC is a community arts facility and the festival reflects that," he said.
"There will be heaps of community performances on Saturday with performances from the Philharmonic South West and other groups."
Mr McGuinness said highlights of the festival would include a film screening of The Source during the South West Multicultural Festival on Thursday.
"It's great we can partner with the organisers of the festival and that reflects what we are about," he said.
Mr McGuinness said the community focus of the festival would continue with tours of the centre on Saturday.
"The festival highlights the diverse range of acts we have at the centre - from community members to the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, who are playing on Sunday," he said.
"There will be a free afternoon tea and a question and answer session after the WASO show as well."
