Bunbury arts showcase grows

Bunbury will play host to a performing arts extravaganza which shows off the best musical, drama and dance talent in the State.

Future stars of the performing arts world will take part in the WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod incorporating the City of Bunbury Eisteddfod throughout June at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.

WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod president William Harbeck said it was astounding in excess of 6500 pairs of feet would cross the stage throughout the month of dynamic entertainment.

“Piano and dance alone each have a week of dedicated performances,’’ he said.

The eisteddfod was officially launched at a civic reception hosted by the City of Bunbury on Sunday to celebrate 55 years of the event.

Eisteddfod enthusiasts were serenaded by choir Vocal Fusion and the Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School ensemble.

The eisteddfod is one of six held in Western Australia and includes entries from as far as Albany, Margaret River, Busselton, Dunsborough and Donnybrook.

It will start with piano performances next Tuesday, culminating in a gala concert on June 29.

The event will also include a free concert on June 8 at 8pm featuring Libby Hammer and supporting local artists, a reserved seating dance production on June 21 and a gala concert on June 29.

Performing arts lovers are encouraged watch as many performances as possible to witness the best talent the State has to offer.
