Bunbury boaties usher in new season
More than 45 boats braved the inclement weather on Saturday to mark the start of the fishing and boating season at Bunbury’s Blessing of the Fleet event in Koombana Bay.
This year’s annual tradition was the first time the three major boating clubs — the Koombana Bay Sailing Club, Bunbury and Districts Power Boat Club and Bunbury Yacht Club came together to collaborate on the event.

Bunbury Yacht Club commodore Noel Seymour said the event went well and the clubs were pleased with the outcome.
“We were very pleased to have the Koombana Bay Sailing Club and the Dolphin Discovery Centre on board this year,” he said.
“We think it’s important to utilise the beautiful waterways in Bunbury to make good use of the facilities we have and bring it to the forefront of people.
“We want to expand it and hopefully make it a land-based festival.”
