State Emergency Service volunteers responded to 17 jobs in Bunbury on Saturday after a water spout tore through Usher.

Deputy manager Kevin Regan said the damage started at Ocean Drive and went through to Dudley Place in Usher when wild weather hit about 12.30am.

"Damage ranged from a few tiles to many tiles, to half roofs, to full roofs," he said.

"I didn't see it but we had people saying they saw a water spout come from the ocean and make its way through Usher."

About 30 SES volunteers from Bunbury, Australind and Collie helped with the call-outs.

Mr Regan said some jobs could have been "self-help" jobs if residents had prepared their homes.
