Car accelerates towards police

A man who allegedly drove towards a police officer as he approached the vehicle will appear in court this week on three charges.

Police will allege the 19-year-old Bunbury man accelerated towards an officer after he was stopped on Sunday night, before driving down Strickland Street.

The man will appear in court on Friday on charges of reckless driving, blood alcohol content exceeding 0.08 per cent and failing to stop.

Police will allege they spotted the man as he turned onto Strickland Street after 9pm on Sunday, where he lost control of the car and went up a median strip.

He allegedly came to a stop on a kerb where he was approached by police on foot.

It is then - police will allege - the driver accelerated towards the police officer.

Police followed the man and arrested him in a driveway at an address on Strickland Street.
