Car vandals on camera

Bunbury Herald

A group of youths who caused about $20,000 damage by jumping on car bonnets at a Bunbury car yard have been caught on surveillance footage.

The incident happened at South West Used Cars at 1.30am on Saturday — but owner Mark Bayliss said he was hopeful about finding out who was involved.

“I’m annoyed at the inconvenience these kids caused, I hope I find out who they are,” he said.

“The footage shows a group of about eight kids, three or four of who jumped on seven or eight of the cars.”

Mr Bayliss said one was wearing a backpack and a dark shirt.

“They obviously didn’t know we have surveillance cameras,” he said.

“The police have a copy of the footage.”

Mr Bayliss said the footage showed taxis travelling on Rose Street and Goldwire Street.

“They’ll be able to tell us which way the kids came from,” he said.
