Christian Van Noort got more adventure than he bargained for when he and friend Lloyd Mayhew found themselves stuck on the chairlift after it stalled at Adventure World in Perth on Sunday.

When his mother Erin Van Noort finally found the boys after seeing a fire truck arrive, she was relieved to see they were laughing and joking with amusement park staff.

“The rescue was very well coordinated by Adventure World and they kept everyone very calm, ” Ms Van Noort said.

“When I found them they were laughing and eating lollies.”

Christian, 12, said though he was initially a little scared, he ended up having much more fun than what he would normally have on a chairlift ride.

“I think it was exciting, ” Christian said.

“I was a bit nervous because it was shuddering, but then the Adventure World people threw up lollies and water and we got a free hat!”

Christian and Lloyd were only stranded mid-air for 90 minutes before firefighters and adventure world staff lifted the boys to safety on their shoulders.

Some others had to be rescued with a cherry picker and were trapped for three hours.

Adventure World is conducting a full investigation into the incident and offering free passes to all families who were affected.
