Courtney scores a date with Mad Max

Bunbury Herald

Bunbury beauty Courtney Eaton is set to star alongside some of the biggest names in film after being named as one of the stars of the next instalment of the Mad Max series.

Miss Eaton has been cast as one of the ‘‘five wives’’in the film Fury Road, which started filmingin Africa this week.

The 16-year-old will appear with Oscar-winner Charlize Theron and one of the stars of themost recent Batman film Tom Hardy in the George Martin-directed follow up to the smash-hit 1980s Mad Max series.

Miss Eaton auditioned for the part earlier this year in Sydney and said she was not even sure she wanted to prepare an audition tape.

Vivien’s Models Management Perth manager Christine Fox said thelast six months, since turning 16, had been a whirlwind for Miss Eaton.

‘‘She’sjust been back to Australia for a two-week break after rehearsals,’’ she said.

‘‘They’re fully into filming now — the conditions are pretty extreme over there,it’s freezing cold, then hot with dust storms.’’

Ms Fox said her rise had been unprecedented.

‘‘For an unknown person to be plucked from obscurity — it’s not a minor role, this is a really big deal,’’ she said.

‘‘George Miller obviously had his eye on her, they had a global casting call for this part, she’s done very well.’’

She said Miss Eaton had been set up with a manager in the US who had been sending her scripts to read while she was on location in Africa.

‘‘I’m sure she’s going to fall in love with making movies, and I know she wants to go back to do some modelling as well,’’ she said.

Fury Road is slated for release next year.
