Dr Karl, Ruben go back to College

LESLEE HALLBunbury Herald

Science will be given a boost later this year when two popular science personalities return to Bunbury for the second year in a row.

Dr Karl Kruszelnicki and Ruben Meerman will visit Ocean Forest Lutheran College in August for National Science Week and the South West Super Science Spectacular, which attracted more than 5000 people last year.

Mr Meerman said he was impressed and encouraged by the passion and enthusiasm for science he encountered on his previous visit.

He said he was looking forward to returning again this year.

“I’ll be blowing things up and creating some organised chaos, but as always there will be some deep message behind the mayhem,’’ Mr Meerman said.

“I encourage kids of all ages to get passionate about their own education and remind them that science and mathematics make the high-tech world go round.’’

Ocean Forest principal John Mason said the event was borne out of a decline in science-based study in senior school classes throughout the South West.
