The middle of winter is normally the wettest part of the year, but for a group of people fundraising for cancer support services it will be completely dry.

From today a team of Dry July veterans from the Bunbury region will join people from across the country to say no to alcohol as part of Dry July.

The Frothy Stainz Squad reunited this year and attracted new team members who will swear off the booze for a month to raise money for Solaris Care.

Team member Jason Humble said everyone in the team had been affected by cancer in some way.

He said not only did the month without alcohol raise money to support people fighting cancer, but was also a great way to get healthy.

Mr Humble copped some flak during his first year taking part in Dry July but stood strong and intended to do the same this year.

“Last year the guys bought a carton and were going to fundraise for me to drink it, ” he said.

Katrina Depiazzi joined the team this year and said she hoped the team could raise more than $1000.

“We’ve had a massive response so far, ” she said.
