The East Perth Eagles have taken out this year’s men’s State Basketball League championship, beating the Geraldton Buccaneers 99-83 on Saturday night.

A sold-out crowd turned out to watch the season decider at the WA Basketball Centre and it was East Perth who performed, lead well by NBL championship winners Drew Williamson and Tom Jervis.

It is just East Perth’s second ever grand final appearance and after losing in 2012, the Eagles have claimed an SBL championship for the first time.

In the women’s it was the Rockingham Flames who beat the Lakeside Lightning 80-75 on Friday night.

The Flames ended the Lightning’s 13-game winning streak on the back of Grand Final MVP Samantha Whitcomb after she recorded 32 points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists.
