Eagles fans queue for hours

Bunbury Herald

West Coast Eagles supporters are flying high on adrenalin — none more so than the fans who snapped up tickets yesterday to the team’s do-or-die match this Saturday.

A line of the Eagles faithful snaked out of Ticketmaster outlet Bunbury Jetset and around the corner yesterday morning, with some dedicated fans arriving three hours before opening time.

An Eagles member for 22 years, Terri Ferris left her Collie home at 5.30am to get tickets, and was surprised others had beaten her there.

‘‘We were about 12th in line,’’ Mrs Ferris said.

Travelling to Perth by bus with other supporters during the season ‘‘rain, hail or shine,’’ the passionate fan admits having a few butterflies in the stomach but is confident the team has what it takes.

‘‘I reckon they are playing very well and they were just unlucky on the weekend,’’ Mrs Ferris said.

‘‘Being that we are at home (on Saturday), I reckon we’ve got a good chance to win.’’

The Eagles will go head-to-head with a confident Carlton side on Saturday night in a semi-final clash in front of what is expected to be a sellout crowd at Patersons Stadium.

The Blues knocked Essendon out of the finals on Sunday, unleashing a 62-point beating on the side.

The Eagles fought valiantly against Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday afternoon before going down by 20 points.
